Terms of Use

Candle Wax Calculator is free to use, maintained by Ian Welkins. These terms are written in plain language and cover what the site offers, what the numbers mean, and what is expected of visitors.

Free to use

The homepage calculator plus ten tool pages — soy wax, wax melts, fragrance ratio, water to wax, wax weight, wax volume, wax cost, wick size, paraffin, and gel wax — are free to use with no account and no payment. You may share links to any page.

What the results are

Most outputs are exact arithmetic from your own inputs: wax per candle (container volume times wax density), batch totals (per-candle weight times candle count), fluid-ounce conversion, and fragrance oil weight (load percentage times wax weight). If the inputs are right, these results are right.

The density figures are typical published values for candle pours, not measurements of your specific wax — blends vary, so confirm with a test pour before a large batch. Your fragrance load and safety margin are your own choices, adjustable on each page. Wick sizing guidance is a starting point, not a substitute for testing how a particular wax, wick, and fragrance burn together.

The calculators are planning tools, not professional advice. They do not replace your wax and fragrance suppliers' guidance on safe fragrance loads, curing, or candle safety testing, or your own judgment about what a finished candle is worth.

No warranty

The tools are provided as-is. They are hand-checked against manual calculations, including edge cases, but mistakes are possible — check the result against your own math before buying supplies in bulk. If you find an error, reporting it helps everyone; see report an error.

Fair use

Do not misuse the site: no scraping that degrades the service for others, no attempts to break or bypass anything, and no presenting the calculators as your own work. The content and calculation logic remain the property of the site.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the site grows. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms. Questions about the terms can be sent to ianwelkins@gmail.com.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the calculators for candles I sell?

Yes. The calculators are free for personal projects and for commercial ones — planning wax for candles you sell, costing a market-stall batch, or checking amounts for a pouring class are all fine.

Is there a usage limit?

No. There are no accounts and no usage limits. Use the tools as often as you like.

What if a calculator gives a wrong result?

Email ianwelkins@gmail.com and the error will be investigated. See the report an error page for what details make a report easiest to check.
